Hi there!

Welcome to the (slightly delayed) September AlmaLinux newsletter, where we share the latest AlmaLinux happenings, upcoming events, and more.

Quick notes:

Looking for ways to help? Here are a couple of good ones!

The swag shop needs a new tender!

Are you someone with organizational chops, and an eye for detail? The Marketing SIG is looking for someone to help audit what’s there and the costs for each item, update what we’re offering, and help us come up with some new designs for our Shop! Email benny at almalinux.org, if you’d like to help out.

Help on the forums!

The traffic to the AlmaLinux forums has nearly doubled in the last 6 months, and that means there are more questions than ever to answer! If you have a few minutes, use the link lnx.rocks/forumhelp to see all the currently unanswered threads on the forums and see if you can help your fellow sysadmins, developers, and DevOps engineers with opinions, answers, and feedback.

Latest from the AlmaLinux Blog

Announcing the AlmaLinux Certification SIG

After months of work, we are happy to announce the AlmaLinux Certification Special Interest Group (SIG), along with our Hardware Certification Program! This SIG has tangible goals and immediate benefits for all users of AlmaLinux, and tons of ways to get involved. Learn more about the Certification SIG in this blog post!

Bringing bootc to AlmaLinux

bootc is a new deployment method that powers Image mode for RHEL and HeliumOS, a new Linux distribution. We are excited to announce that AlmaLinux now offers bootc images for Intel/AMD(x86_64) and ARM64(AArch4). Read more about this in our blog post.

Meet the board - Jack and Jun

Last year, we launched a Q&A video series in which we have community members ask and answer common questions we’re seeing. This year, we’re starting another video series, this time with the AlmaLinux OS Foundation board members. Our goal with this new series is to better introduce our board to the AlmaLinux community. We’ve got blog posts for our first two, Jack Aboutbol and Jun Yoshida, on our blog now!

ELevate Project Updates

There are some new ELevate project updates! Check out this blog post or the changelog to get the scoop.

Upcoming Events

September was another month that was fairly light with events, though we just wrapped up with NERDEARLA. Here’s what’s coming up for the rest of the year:

If you see an event missing that you think we should attend, or if you know of any amazing open source events in Asia, South America, or Africa, let us know! Our community is growing quickly in those areas, and we’d love a chance to connect with them!

We’re also looking for volunteers from the AlmaLinux community to help staff our booths. If you like chatting with folks about Linux and open source and are local to any of these events (or any others that you think we should be at) fill out this Google form! We’ll cover your travel and hotel.

Stay up to date and join us!

If you want to make sure you catch every update from us, sign up for the Newsletters mailing list or subscribe on LinkedIn!

Thanks for everything,
