Hello Mirror Owners,
We'll begin syncing AlmaLinux 10 content to mirrors in the coming days
(likely over the coming weekend). This will mark the first time that we've
had 3 concurrently-supported major versions in production. That means that
the baseline for disk space will increase by about 1/3 to support the 3
concurrent version trees.
The new minimum disk requirement will be around 1.5TB, with 2TB suggested
to allow for extra versions to be present during releases.
There's normally a small delay of removing older versions when new ones are
released - ie 9.5 will remain on mirrors for a week or two while 9.6 is
already out. This is why an extra buffer is needed.
That said, we expect the "steady state" outside of release cycles to sit
around 1TB, +/- 10% or so.
We still have quite a few mirrors in the "expired" or otherwise unavailable
state. Now would be a great time to look at your mirror(s) and ensure they
are functioning properly and in sync. You can see detailed errors at
https://mirrors.almalinux.org/debug/html/all to help with debugging.
As always, the latest documentation and suggestions for mirrors is at
https://wiki.almalinux.org/Mirrors.html
AlmaLinux 9.6 is being announced and released momentarily so expect a small
uptick in traffic to your mirror as users update their systems.
Thank you all for contributing mirrors to AlmaLinux!
PS - if anyone would prefer us to manage their mirror for them we have been
doing this for a few others already and would be happy to manage your
mirror for you with our ansible playbooks. Feel free to email me directly
if anyone would prefer that approach.
