Can I use the Elevate tool to migrate my CentOS 7.9 with Virtualmin/Webmin to AlmaLinux 9.0?

Subject: Can I use the Elevate tool to migrate my CentOS 7.9 with Virtualmin/Webmin to AlmaLinux 9.0? Good day from Singapore, I understand both CentOS Linux and AlmaLinux follow Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). I have 2 CentOS 7.9 Linux virtual private servers (VPS) in Europe. They are running Virtualmin/Webmin web hosting control panel in master and slave configuration. Unfortunately, the end of life (EOL) date for CentOS 7.9 is 30 June 2024, which is less than 2 years away. Can I use the Elevate tool to migrate my CentOS 7.9 with Virtualmin/Webmin to AlmaLinux 9.0? Is it technically impossible or will result in too many complications? Should I install AlmaLinux 9.0 from fresh and then install Virtualmin instead? If I choose this route, I will need to ask Virtualmin developers how I can migrate the web hosting control panel from CentOS 7.9 to AlmaLinux 9.0. Please advise. Thank you. Install wine on almalinux-9
by John Thompson 19 Oct '22

19 Oct '22

I don't see a wine package available for almalinux-9. I would build it from source, but I don't see a 32-bit development environment available either. Does anyone know if/where either can be found for almalinix-9? -- -John Thompson (john(a)os2.dhs.org) Appleton WI USA

started cancel waiting for multipath siblings of nvme0n1
by Patrick Begou 27 Sep '22

Hi, I'm unable tu run a PXE boot + Kickstart based install for Alma Linux 8.6 on a DELL Precision 3571 laptop. The workflow hangs with the message: "/started cancel waiting for multipath siblings of nvme0n//1/" I find this is an issue known by Alma Linux (https://bugs.almalinux.org/view.php?id=209&nbn=6) but the proposed workaround do not work (or I dot not understand it): I've removed ./usr/lib/udev/prefixdevname in initrd.img as prefixdevname-tools was not found but this make a Kernel panic! And there are no details about the initrd.img modification steps. Any idea how to solve this (I have 3 laptops to deploy) ? Is there a way to use older boot images for Alma Linux ? My setup works fine for an old DELL Precision 3520 used for testing before deploying on these new 3571. Thanks for your advices Patrick
